Jim Mayer has been named among San Diego’s “Top Lawyers” in mediation by San Diego Magazine. San Diego Attorney Journal observed that “Mayer’s multi-faceted background makes him unique in mediating disputes, particularly ones with a commercial or business nexus where negotiating skills are crucial.”
An honors graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School, Jim retired in 1997 as a senior partner in the Corporate/Securities and Banking/Commercial departments of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, a major international law firm. At Pillsbury, he worked with a variety of clients ranging from individuals, partnerships and start-ups to multi-billion dollar mergers and financings as well as class actions.
Jim had a distinguished military career as a Navy Supply Corps Officer and retired as a Rear Admiral and received the 2nd highest non-combat award, the Defense Superior Service Medal, for service during the first Gulf War.
He has been mediating disputes for more than twenty years throughout California as well as Arizona, Hawaii and Nevada. He is a member of the mediation panels for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and the San Diego Superior Court. See Profile section.
